Pink Dot LETTERPRESS

It is with pure pride and pleasure that I unveil my lovely new business cards and thank you cards.  I've had them in my hot little hands for a few weeks now and I cannot believe it took me THIS long to post them. I am sure it was due to the fact that these babies arrived the day before we took off for LA/ Golden Globe Style Lounge. Either way - here they are! Letterpress? Um, yes-please! Not only are they letterpressed but the edges are painted too - a most punchy shade of coral - or as I like to call it : Pink-dot-Press-pink! Seeing them all stacked up strutting their stuff makes me one proud mama! The best part is that they are printed on paper that is composed of 100% recycled fibers from the garment district - can you STAND it? The thank you cards are merry little morsels too - it makes thanking all my clients that much better! I LOVE designing for letterpress and love even MORE my letterPRESSER whom does a fantastic job and is an absolute delight to do business with! I highly recommend letterpressing personal correspondence, not only is it a statement on the grandest scale, but it's such a personal luxury and if done well - so totally enchanting!

Holy Golden Globes!

Wow! What a whirlwind! We made it back from LA in one piece - whew! I must say the Style Lounge was a complete success! Not only was it great fun, but the exposure was incredible! There was such an overwhelming response to Pink Dot Press - it's kinda hard not to get excited about paper - but these lounge goers were tickled pink by our presence, products and most importantly our service! We had the absolute pleasure of interacting with such wonderful people and were lucky enough to also meet the acquaintance of some of our favorite celebrities too! It's not everyday that you get to talk shop with the likes of Debra Messing - wha? Who, by the way, was so charming in person and to top it all off was thrilled with our work! Woo-hoo! We also had such great exchanges with people from the press, publicists and stylists to boot! Pink Dot Press is easy to talk about and even easier to be excited about and I would have to say it was certainly well received. The inquiries seem to be pouring in by the truck load and we are tending to them with thoughtful care and giddiness! The best part is that not even a week out and FMPR has asked us to design the MTV Movie Award Style Lounge invitations!!! Woot! So, needless to say we happily obliged and are currently knee deep in design. We'll have so much more to report on as this project unfolds, and report we will! Stay tuned for more Style Lounge Madness as Pink Dot Press presses on!

Bling!

One of my favorite gifts this year : kate spade terrytown metallic iphone case. Can you stand it? For a girl who can hardly resist metalic gold in any way shape or form - a blinged out cell phone case was a home run! Oh how this sends me! Bling is fun + fun is Good!

Hello o'nine + Hello good tidings + tid bits a plenty!

Happy o'nine! Ah yes, a new year, a clean slate! I just love it when that happens. It's as if given a fresh crisp set of white sheets, a sunny day in mid dreary-winter, or a deliciously scented bouquet of fresh cut flowers - they don't necessarily change your life, but they bring a newness and a freshness to everything. I love a new year, the thought of new prospects, new projects and experiences yet to come. The anticipation of the un-known and having faith that the un-known will bring good tidings and tid bits along with it - that's so exciting to me. With 2009 already upon us things have already begun to take shape in a positive direction. The Golden Globe Style Lounge is just days away and final preparations are in order for our departure. I've got a lovely collection of boxes filled with goodies to gift - sky buster balloons in every shade of pink, my favorite pink party table cloth from pottery barn kids - oh and my pink pillow after dinner mints that I plan on putting out in a vintage candy dish for passers-by! At this point I think I've thought of everything however I am quite positive that in the next two days I'll busy myself with ridiculous tasks to make certain that everything is just the way I had hoped and dreamed it would be! With good tidings + tid bits as my o'nine muse, Pink Dot Press is well on her way!

I can see clearly now...

Behold! My new glasses! LOVE them! They are by Salt Optics, they're called : Jaden, and I proudly own them in toffee tortoise pink. They're sharp and clean, yet fun and punchy in that "business in the front / party in the back" sorta way. Described as 'a bold vintage cat eye with modern lines' these babies really screamed out at me, I had to have them! Of course it was the peek-a-boo pink that sold me on this particular pair, but can you blame me...? They're pretty fierce.

Style Lounge display table : inspiration!

This picture is every kind of happy. There is something so whimsical and dreamy about this - it's being so happy you could almost float away. It's having something on a string... that's exciting to me! This image perfectly embodies the principles of Pink Dot Press : it's indulging in the extraordinary. We believe that all things can and should be celebrated and that life on a grand scale should feel like a party all the time. In reality, it usually isn't but, we can dream cant we? So, upon discovery of this photo, the seed for our display table at the Golden Globe Style Lounge was planted! It was then that the mad hunt for these delicious 'sky buster' balloons in every shade of pink had begun! I found them, I ordered them... I await their arrival. I'm excited! Will keep you posted, pinky swear!

Golden Globies... getting there!

Good news! Round one of Project Assembly: Style Lounge Madness was a success! With five of us, some wine and tasties to boot - we assembled 500 of these babies in what seemed like no time! I have to say I am quite pleased with the progress and am happy to report that my anxiety is beginning to dissipate! Yippee, hooray! Not bad for one nights work.

A note on Miki...

A thank you note, or two - that is! These came out so good I just had to share! In exchange for his super-photo skills I happily designed 2 different thank you notes for Miki of mi-workshop. He asked for something he could send out to clients thanking them for their purchase of a custom furniture piece. We sat and discussed and decided on a lovely graphic faux bois with his [mi] logo brand stamp as one and a playful monkey hanging from a branch holding his logo as the other. We printed through my new favorite letterpress printer : SPARK! Designing for Miki was brilliant fun and so are his cards!

The Golden Globies!!!

ohmygoodness. ohmygoodness. The madness has officially begun! A while back Pink Dot Press was commissioned by Feinstein/McGuiness Public Relations to design both a 'deck' and a hard invitation for their annual Style Lounge Pre-Golden Globe gifting suite. This is one of many events hosted annually by FMPR in anticipation of major red carpet award shows in which cater to celebrity attendees. We completed the 'deck' which was a 10 page pictorial/text heavy informative electronic brochure [if you will] in September. The outcome - merely magnificent, of course! Well... with the event creeping up on us [January 8th + 9th, to be precise] the invitations are in full swing! I've assembled my team [the golden globies] and we are set to begin round one of Project Assembly: Style Lounge Madness! The supplies keep rolling in - luscious satin ribbon, pockets, stickers and envelopes... oh my! With 500 of these babies to hand assemble the task is daunting - especially since yours truly decided to really out-do herself on the design [as usual!!!] This has been such a fun adventure and I'll be sure to post updates throughout the process. The best part will be reporting from the Golden Globes Style Lounge in which Pink dot Press will be holding court!!! Undeniably Fun!

Pretty in Pink!!!

It is with a curtsy and a bow that I unveil the new face of Pink dot Press : www.pinkdotpress.com {we launched this afternoon - hip hip hooray!} This, my friends, has been an ongoing blissful battle / labor of love {what ever you want to call it} for quite some time now. With BIG things on the horizon, a new face was a must. A few months back we began the 'make-over' process. I think this happens to most women - we look and look, we're OK with what we see... but not in LOVE with what we see. We think '... wellll, if I could I would definitely change this and tighten that and maybe add a little umph here and while I'm at it a nip here...' Before you know it you're in the car on the way to a consultation to discuss your total transformation to the new you. This is exactly what happened to Pink dot Press, so we succumbed to the reality and, well, she got 'a little work done' - okay?

Thanks to an amazing referral from an amazing friend {Abbie Schiller - you know who you are!} we plunged face first into Project: Total Make-Over with fingers tightly crossed. Thanks to the super wonderful and uber-talented folks at Peniferella, most notably the magnificent Jena Starkes, Pink Dot Press has a new face and is strutting with quite a swagger if I do say so myself! I cannot say enough about Jena, in fact I have since re-named her : PIXELISTA! With a mere wave of her wand she not only resurrected my website but she also transformed the presence of my company - she's a magician and a true woman of her craft. She's also an absolute gem of a lady and someone I sincerely respect! Bravo, Jena, Bravo!

Hey Miki! You're so Kind you Blow my Mind, Hey Miki!

I truly canot say enough about Miki. Who is Miki, you ask? Well, he's Miki Iwasaki of mi-workshop. He's probaby one of the most versitally talented people I've ever met. In fact, he's so good at just about everything he does that it pretty much makes me want to puke! Not only is he an amazing sustainable furniture designer, he's an architecht {courtesy of Harvard!}and just so happens to be pretty darn talented behind a camera lens too. All this raw talent is enough to make a good person choose to hate Mr. Iwasaki - but you just can't - he's too darn nice. Frustrating, isn't it? In my thoughtful pursuit of a total Pink dot makeover I had the absolute pleasure of working with Miki on the photography for my new website. His eye for visual perfection is second to none {of course it is!}

All the bright, shiny new photos are the handy work of Miki - with the exception of the family portrait - courtesy of Urban Baby {don't get me started on how much I adore them... that will be a whole other post in itself!!!} which resides on the contact page, just in case you were wondering. Not only did he meticulously shoot all of my portfolio pieces, he also humored me on several 'mood shoots' in which he shot what seemed like thousands of pictures that would be displayed throughout the new site. It was a complete success! Although he doesn't advertise his photo skills, instead he utilizes them for hobby and documenting his own handy work - he could and he'd most likely be ridiculously successful at that too!
